Big Q on Q shop’s AD

A still from the ad

Sahara Q Shop’s recent TV ad has definitely opened on a wrong foot. We believe the stills were too strong for masses to make them believe that the products they were buying could get them killed. Negative marketing hardly works. What a waste of our entire cricketing stars. #blacksheeps

Social media has become an inevitable part of daily life by most of the netizens; even more for the celebrities who keep posting about themselves. They use it to give hints about their personal life or share news about what they are up to. Product launches using the digital medium is also the latest trend. Pop singer Lady Gaga uploaded an image last week of her new tattoo on Instagram® and it immediately created a huge buzz. A week later she tweeted that ARTPOP (her tattoo in the image) was actually her upcoming album’s name! Now that’s the Power of Twitter. Isn’t that amazing teaser marketing. #freegyan

Are you Obsessed with Quality and Driven by Passion buyer?

When I saw coffee stain on my shirt, the very first thing come to my mind was daag achche hai, in spite of knowing it is difficult to get rid of that stain. Not I, most of the people utter such punch lines in their day to day life.

Punch lines are the essential part of the advertising. It creates brand identity. Punch lines are what lead you to think for any brand. To make the sellable advertisement, the advertisers or advertising agencies are creating sparkling advertisements, which keeps popping into audience’s mind all the time.

The punch lines or the slogans are crux of the advertisement. That create brand image to the audience’s mind. Any good ad is made out of factual information with emotional appeal.

Does all the punch lines are factual?

The recent one by Thumps up says “Aaj kuch Toofani karte hai”, this one sounds like – go violent and do crazy things.

Another one is Lee’s “The Jeans That Built America”. Cement like jeans or what?  Still wondering how jean can build any country/continent!

Max New York Life Insurance – “Your Partner for Life”.  Are they Parallel marriage bureau? Parents should left worries on them.

Air India – “Count on us”. Most of the times delayed and cancellation of flights, what does the hoarding depict of?

Mentos – “Dimag ki Batti Jala De” – No Comment.

P.S. – Our intention is here to show the unethical or improper way of branding that hardly have any relation with the actual or factual thing. We are not targeting any individual brand. Our intention is “Sab Padhe Sab Badhe”, and for the excellent marketing “Hum Hai Na!” #blacksheeps.

A cool example of how one of car manufacturer decided to leverage social media marketing to launch its new car!

A typical car launch would have been a grand affair with a big show, celebrities and lots of marketing blitzkrieg. But here’s an example of how trends are changing. Renault® recently launched their latest SUV model Duster on Facebook®. Before the launch, Renault® ran a prelaunch video ad (teaser sort of!) on Facebook® asking the page viewers to visit them back again on particular day of launch to see it live! Now isn’t that a super cool example! Muaaah… SMIT loved it.

Hey Renault® Thumbs Up!

Has McDonald’s ventured into chai kitlis too? Never knew :)

Don’t be surprised! This one is certainly not from Mc Donald’s. This tea vendor  has named his stall same as of the global food chain’s. Some say how foolish while we say one more black sheep. #blacksheeps.

Well, he may not land into much trouble because of his size of business but if you plan to setup a new business your brand name would be the first step to get you noticed. Make sure you have chosen it after making proper checks for its availability with the company registrars and brands/trademarks office. Any direct/indirect resemblance to already registered brand name may land you into trouble and you may be on wrong foot even before you would plan to kick-off some marketing activities in future.

Check this of where Google features

Here comes yet another ‘JustDial’ kind of telephone-assisted directory services that doesn’t seem to be offering nothing much unique but making an overwhelming tall pitch to market its service, that too, not without googling! We came across this piece of ‘few black sheep’ kind of marketing during a recent visit to Mumbai.

advertisement on Auto Rickshaw

It is defying morals of marketing ethics by facilitating one of the competitor name ‘Google’ (a well established search engine) to pitch its own service. #blacksheeps.

What say?
